”When we began dreaming about an international collaboration for this year’s anthology, we began with the many complicated questions of borders. What kinds of borders do we cross in our daily lives? Where do we live in the in-between spaces? How are we connected to the lands that we call home? In this year’s collection of stellar student writing, you’ll see that students took this theme in many different directions, whether personal or political, historical or cultural, familial or national, speculative or realistic.

This year, for the first time, we also had the chance to meet up for an informal writing jam session before submissions were due with many of the writers featured in this zine, both Californian and Mexican. We hope that you enjoy reading and hearing from this eclectic group and that it challenges you to consider the ever-present and intersecting realities of borders, place, and identity for all of us.”
